My Sewing Plan 2025

Happy New Year Everyone !

Let’s start 2025 with some sneak peeks of what you can expect on the blog in the coming months relating to my sewing projects, including the future Petite édition sewing patterns.

January

Quilted Baby Blanket

I will start the year by finishing a project I started in 2024 : a quilted baby blanket for my nephew who will arrive soon.

The chosen pattern for the patchwork is a single Irish chain, as shown in the rendering. All the fabrics are from Thread Count Fabrics (more on that in the article I will write about this project).

The construction was delayed because one fabric was in pre-order and then was stuck in the mail, but it is probably for the better because I now think about finding a specific flannel fabric for the other side of the quilt.

Can’t wait to finish the quilt AND MEET MY NEPHEW!

La Chemise - Atelier Brunette

I received a buttonhole sewing kit from Core Fabrics for Christmas, so you can expect a lot of shirts in 2025. The first one I want to make is La Chemise from Atelier Brunette. Since the pattern has some kind of raglan sleeves and a oversize fit, I think I can get away with not making any modification (except for the length).

For the materials, I spotted this cotton oxford shirting fabric in butter yellow from Core Fabrics and will most probably use vintage mother of pearl buttons from my stash.

February

La Leçon d'escrime - Alcide-Théophile Robaudi (1850-1928)

18th-19th Century Shirt

The next Petite édition sewing pattern should be a 18th-19th century shirt in white linen. I won’t give away too much details, but I would like this pattern to have an historically plausible option and to be unisex. The pattern test should open in February.

Drawstring Bag - Rosie Caldwell

The second project I would like to make this month is the drawstring bag pattern that Rosie Caldwell plans to launch in the beginning of the year. I don’t have any image to show you, but you can see it in her last youtube video

March

Adrienne Shirt - Méthode Mathilde

Méthode Mathilde is one of my favorite sewing pattern brand for its vintage and elegant style and it is time to try one of her pattern. The Adrienne Shirt has georgeous details and will probably be my most difficult project of the year, espacially because I will need to make important modifications so it can fit me. But, since I fell in love with the pattern as soon as it launched and already watched the instructional video, I feel confident that it can be worth the work.

I was only hesitating about the fabric, but I am convincing myself that a simple white cotton shirt with long sleeves would get the most wear. Still, a yellow one inspired by the Alicia Blouse from Simple Retro (not the same collar, but I prefer the one on the Adrienne Shirt anyway) or a blue one inspired by this costume from the Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society movie would also by beautiful.

April & May

Lara Blouse - Sézane

Sézane-Inspired Blouse

For my birthday in May, I would like to wear a blouse inspired by the Lara Blouse from Sézane. I will probably draft my own pattern for this recreation, even though I am pretty sure there’s already free versions of this pattern somewhere. I have not found the right fabric yet - as I want this specific color and it is hard to get that type of red in winter - but I am hoping that some interesting viscose/rayon crepe fabric will be available this spring.

Jeans Skirt

To complete my birthday diner look I would like to draft a jeans skirt. I won’t get into details because it could be a Petite édition pattern.

I also already have all the materials I need for this project, which would make it a great stash buster.

Summer

Coeli Blouse - Pauline Alice Patterns

I am not sure I will get to sew this one, but the Coeli Blouse from Pauline Alice Patterns is in my sewing list for years. I don’t have the fabric for it, but since I might get away with not doing any alterations to the pattern, it is still a possibility.

Buttoned-Up Mini Dress

My main project for the summer would be a buttoned-up mini dress. I might make it in red like La Robe en Rouge from Mirror Palais or in blue or white denim fabric. I plan to draft it myself so it can be a Petite édition pattern, with options to make a top or a vest.

Fall

Anne of Green Gables : The Sequel (1987)

Anne Inspired Vest

My first project for fall is a vest inspired by this costume from Anne of Green Gables : The Sequel Series. I have a remnant of a beautiful wool, cotton and silk blend from Globe-Tex that would be absolutely perfect for this. I don’t have a pattern in mind, but I could probably adapt the one I would have made for the buttoned-up mini dress.

Bilma Shirt - Sézane

My second fall project is a recreation of the Bilma Shirt from Sézane. Ideally, I would like to draft the pattern, but I have found a very similar designs at Joli Lab (the Camille Shirt) and Closet Core Patterns (the Jenna Shirt). The fit is similar and I would only have to modify the cuffs.

I will probably use fabrics from my stash to make it, but there’s some options at Core Fabrics : Pinstripe Cotton Poplin Shirting - Cornflower Blue + White, Stripe Cotton Poplin Shirting - Teal + White & Signature Crisp Cotton Poplin - White.

Jamie Top - DÔEN

Lastly, for the holidays, I would like to make a blouse inspired by the Jamie Top from DÔEN. I might draft the pattern myself, but I also found a very similar pattern in one of my sewing books. Finding the fabric will be trickier, but at least I have a year to do it. Here two options : Timeless Floral Print EcoVero Viscose Crepe - Black + Cream + Rose + Green from Core Fabrics & Floral Whimsy Printed Viscose Challis - Black from Blackbird Fabrics.
