Tote Bags - Rosie Caldwell

A little surprise project for January from a Rosie Caldwell’s Youtube video : two tote bags in a cotton-linen mix. I was interested with the assembly method she showed in her video and thought I should try it. I am happy to report that I am very pleased with the result.

I used a little less than 1 meter of Robert Kaufman Essex Yarn Dyed Classic Wovens in Natural Stripes for the two bags. It is a cotton-linen mix with a classic look that seems very suitable for this type of project.

For the construction, I simply followed the video, but I used my own measurements to cut the fabric. I won’t give you my measurements because Rosie Caldwell is selling the pattern on her website, so if you want to make this project, I suggest you create your own measurements or buy the pattern.

As usual for Rosie Caldwell’s projects, the finishing are neat and sturdy. You don’t need a serger because the body of the bag is assembled with French seams. Also, I feel like the handles are very strong.

It came out exactly as I thought it would. Excellent instructions and nice fabric. 10 out of 10!
