Leo Quilt (free pattern)
After a long delay, I managed to finish the quilt I started last year for my nephew…one week after his birth. Fortunately, the quilt seemed to be much appreciated by the parents (still no reaction from baby though).
I suggested this Single Irish Chain motif to my sister, and she selected the fabrics according to the forest theme she chose for the nursery. All the fabrics - and the batting - are from Thread Count Fabrics. Some of them are not in stock anymore, but I listed the fabrics I could still find. The bias tape is from The Fabric Club.
I made the pattern available for free in the shop. I named it Leo, after my nephew (not his real name, but close).
Except the wait for the fabric, this was an easy project. The only thing I would have changed is that I should have bought more fabric to make the quilt one row longer. The result was to square and a little short for a crib quilt. However, I corrected the mistake in the pattern so anyone who uses it will get the right length.
But I am glad I found a suitable cotton batting because the last one I used for my Rosie Caldwell’s Quilted Bags was not great and the quilt has the right amount of fluff. I am know looking for my next quilting project (Handbag ? Vest ? Skirt ?)
